This week was finals week. For our literature final we had a multiple choice portion and an essay portion. What interested me in the essay portion was that we had to write an essay about friendship. Friendship is more than just being friends with someone or knowing them, it is about being there for each other, having each other’s back, so on and so forth. It is like how in one of the novels we read, Heart of a Samurai, The Captain was always there to help Manjiro and teach him. Also in that novel, when Manjiro fell of his horse several times, his friend Terry was always there to help him get back on. Manjiro was new to the American ways, so his friends were always there to guide and protect him. There are also several other things we read throughout the year that showed friendship between people.
One of the other things we have read, well listened to, was, Bridge to Terrabithia, Where there was a great relationship between Jess and Leslie, and also others. One time when the new girl, Leslie, sat on the school bully’s seat on the bus, Jess had her back and made sure she was sitting somewhere else before the bully got there. Another example of friendship was between Jess and Maybelle when Maybelle could’ve fallen into a creek and drowned, Jess saved her. All these examples are great ways to show friendship, Have you ever had a friendship like Manjiro or Jess? Click the button below to see the document that helped me write my essay.
